A Rainy Rags To Riches

October 1995

Food sales at Rags to Riches. Photographer not credited.

Historical October 1995 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

After a one year absence, Rags to Riches returned to Skinker DeBaliviere on Sept. 16- Coordinated by Julie Schoemehl, there were a record number of houses having sales.

According to custom, refreshments and maps were available outside the Kingsbury Animal Hospital.

The Times held a book sale as well. Unfortunately, the weather failed to cooperate with this endeavor.

It was still raining at 8:30am and, although the drops stopped falling an hour later, the skies never cleared.

The weather did affect sales but many people did stop by and it was a good opportunity to see friends and eat good food. Thanks go out to Julie, SDCC Director Laure Porterfield, Arline Webb, Marj Weir, Lois Schoemehl, and JoAnn Vatcha who staffed the food sales. Brad Weir and Neville Vatcha cooked. Venita Lake and Sue Rothschild worked very hard to make the book sale a success:
