As part of the revamping of the community schools in St. Louis into elementary community education centers, each of these 15 centers now has a police officer assigned. Officer John Cothrine is assigned to Hamilton.
He is using the school as a base from which to look after the area.
This is made possible because of a three year grant from the federal government. Cothrine is trying to survey the neighborhood now to find out its needs and what the police could do to help.
