Historical September 1993 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

On the evening of August 2. the Rosedale Neighbors hosted a block party and barbeque for all of Skinker DeBaliviere.

While a jazz band played, neighbors socialized and munched on hot dogs and brats.

There was a large turnout and everyone seemed to have a good time. Volunteers who helped make this event possible were Joe Miller, Betha Whitlow, Beth Bender. Mark Dorsey. Catherine Forslund, Elliot Liebson, Rick Bender. and Tricia Roland. ConServ Officer Jan Waits and SDCC Executive Director Kim Koenig also made this special evening possible. Beth Bender noted that a lot of neighborhood kids lent a hand too. SDCC ‘s Director Kim Koenig and key volunteers were able to secure donations for the block party.

We can all thank St. Roch’s for the barbeque meat and buns, Coca Cola and Anheuser-Busch for beverages, Redel’s and the Wabash Triangle Cafe for ice, McDonald’s for condiments, and Jefferson Tent & Awning and Block Unit 1035 for facilities and implements. Since this worked out so well, maybe same time next year?
