Bank Offers Home Improvement / Weatherization Loans At Reduced Interest Rate

Historical December 1992 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

If you are a homeowner and have an annual income not greater than $41,200 for a household with 1 or 2 persons or $47,380 for households with 3+ persons, you may qualify for a special interest rate for home improvement/weatherization loans. United Missouri Bank of St. Louis, in cooperation with the Missouri Development Commission (MHDC), is making home improvement/weatherization loans at an affordable finance rate to those families within the income limits specified above. Currently, it is just a 7% annual percentage rate. Interested applicants are asked to: 1. Decide what home improvement or weatherization project(s) they want to undertake, 2. Get bids from contractor(s), or, if doing the work themselves, get cost estimates for the materials they will need, 3. Gather their 1991 federal income tax return, 1991 W-2 Form(s), current year to datepay stub, a copy of their General Warranty/Quit Claim Deed and their St. Louis County Work Write-up sheet (if applicable), 4. And Call the MHDC loan processor, Lisa Cantlon, at 621-1000, Ext. 293 for an application. MHDC loans are available in amounts of $1,000 to $15,000. Requests for loans of $10,000 or more require an appraisal fee and title work.
