Historical November 1991 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Tall, slim and serene is Kathryn Moore.

She has owned a home on Waterman in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood for eight years. Moore began working as a flight attendant for Ozark airlines in 1974: Trans World Airlines acquired Ozark in 1986 and Moore continued her career with TWA.

She will complete her 17th year as a flight attendant this November.

She is a native of St. Louis and attended Bates Elementary and Vashon High Schools.

After graduation, she first attended Clark College in Dubuque, Iowa.

She later transferred to and graduated from Saint Louis University. Moore said, “As a flight attendant, I see a lot of children who are very afraid to fly. Since children—and adults for that matter—are less fearful of things that they know and understand, I thought that a children’s book about flying would help children be less fearful and maybe even help them enjoy the experience of flying!” After speaking to a number of parents who agreed that such a book would be useful, Moore penned My First Flight.

My First Flight describes what goes on when you take an airplane trip, from the time that you arrive at the airport until the time that you reach your destination.

It is an activity book written in narrative rhyme, and illustrated in coloring book style.

The games are related to flying.

My First Flight can be purchased at Paul’s Books. Special orders are available from Kathy.
