Members of the 28th Ward Regular Democrats voted unanimously to endorse Vince Schoemehl for Governor, at a meeting at the Cabanne House in Forest Park held on Friday, March 21.

The results of the balloting were announced by Rosemarie Storey, Democratic Committeewoman of the 28th Ward, as she introduced Schoemehl to the group. “Every vote was for our mayor,” said Story. Schoemehl, who was previously the 28th Ward alderman, has lived and worked in the ward for over 25 years: “We are very proud of Vince and his success in revitalizing our city, and we know he’ll be a great Governor.

We wanted to be among the first to show our support and encouragement for his upcoming campaign,” stated Storey. Schoemehl spoke to the group of over 200 residents. “Missouri is facing challenges not unlike those faced by the City during the 80’s. Expenditures will have to be prioritized to make certain that we spend our resources on education, job development, health care and other real priorities of our citizens.” He related how he had traveled widely and met residents from every part of Missouri, who “are waiting to hear from you, to hear how we revitalized our city.” He said that the response all across the state has been enthusiastic. “People are coming forward to contribute their time and energies to help prepare for an energetic grassroots campaign,” Schoemehl told the group that he would be sending them a letter soon, asking for the names of their relatives and friends statewide who will want to join the campaign to elect the first Democratic governor in 12 years. Schoemehl said, “Thank you for your support through the years. Together, we have accomplished a great deal for the City and can do much more for our state.”
