SDCC To Sponsor Dog Show

September 1989

Historical September 1989 report or notice. Original dates, prices and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

The Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council will sponsor a Dog Show on Saturday, September 30, beginning at 10 a.m. lasting until approximately 12 p.m. Georgi Fox is chairing the event. Fox came up with the idea after judging photos of pets for a contest sponsored by Mary Ann Shickman at the Kingsbury Kiosk. Dog shows are popular events in other communities and Fox hopes the event here will capitalize on the enthusiasm already generated by the photo contest. Fox also believes this can be a fun and inexpensive neighborhood event. Judges, categories and prizes haven’t been finalized yet, but possible categories include:

largest dog

best trick

longest ears

most obedient

best thoroughbred

best mixed breed

longest tail

saddest expression

best pair (two dogs belonging to one owner).

The following guidelines for entering the dog show have been established:

1) DOGS MUST BE ON LEASHES

2) DOGS MUST HAVE CURRENT RABIES VACCINATION (THE OWNER MUST PRESENT VACCINATION CERTIFICATE)

3) CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER ENTERING THEIR DOGS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.

These guidelines must be strictly observed.

If you plan to enter the dog show it would be helpful if you registered in advance.

Please call or stop by the SDCC, 6010 Kingsbury, 862-5122 and leave your name, address and phone number. Fox also needs volunteers to organize & work at the event; if you can help, call SDCC.
