A committee of the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council is working on the beautification of Skinker Boulevard from Millbrook to Delmar. Under chairman Sandy Rothschild, the committee is addressing these projects: Repair of curbs; planting and maintenance of trees and flowers; improving grass maintenance; and the purchase and installation of trash receptacles.
The committee is exploring two construction possibilities: A bus shelter at Millbrook and Skinker and entrance markers to the neighborhood at Waterman that would incorporate the terra cotta “angel” figures donated from the Title Guaranty Building. Bill Christman of Christman Studios is donating his services in designing the possible entrance markers.
The committee is also contacting area business owners to enlist their support with improvements of their facilities. Anyone interested in working with this committee should call the Council office at 862-5122.
