Training Begins for Samaritans

November 1981

Historical November 1981 report or notice. Original dates, prices and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Training for persons who want to become Good Samaritans began in October and will continue into November.

The Good Samaritan Network is Aid for Victims of Crime, Inc.’s new neighbor-to-neighbor approach to assisting victims of crime in the St. Louis area. Through a series of community meetings, over 100 volunteers have already been registered.

The two initial training sessions are designed to acquaint prospective volunteers with the Network and the Good Samaritan’s responsibilities, so that they can make a decision as to their level of involvement.

Each session is repeated at least once for the volunteers’ convenience.

Although thesesessions are designed to train volunteers from the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Districts of the city, all interested persons will be welcome.

The second series is entitled “Victimization” and because of its length, it is divided into two parts. Interested persons may attend the two evening sessions, Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. or the all day Saturday session on Nov. 7, beginning at 9 a.m.

These sessions will be held at Berea Presbyterian Church, at 3010 Olive.

Persons interested in becoming Good Samaritans must attend these sessions.
