Off Track Dancers Begin Sixth Season

November 1981

Historical November 1981 report or notice. Original dates, prices and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Off Track Dancers, Andrea Lebovitz, Anne Patz and Cynthia Simpson, has begun their sixth season of performances in the St. Louis area.

After five years of working together through rehearsing, performing, teaching and administrating the company, they have evolved an approach to their dances that merges their collective process with their creative process. Their dances have been influenced by recent work in improvisation and their concerts combine their choreographic and improvisational skills in a new format that allows for openended possibilities in performance.

On Dec. 4, 5, 6 at 8 p.m., Off Track Dancers will perform in its home theatre space at CASA Midtown, 3207 Washington.

This program will feature the dancers in collaboration with composer and performer, Carl Weingarten. Both the dance and the music will be approached in an improvisational format with the actual choreography being set at the moment of performance. Tickets cost $5.00 general admission and $3 senior citizens and students.

Reservations can be made in advance by calling Off Track Dancers at 535-7576.

This year the company members have joined the CASA faculty and are conducting dance classes at both the CASA Midtown location and at Childgrove School in University City.

The classes are for children, teenagers, and adults and are taught Mon.-Thurs. evenings and Saturdays.
