Taking a backseat to no other neighborhood, Skinker-DeBaliviere is organizing to show its support for the local gendarmes by raising money to help buy bullet-proof vests for the policemen. Come to the “Vest for the Best” neighborhood get-together on June 12 at the Central West End Savings & Loan, 415 DeBaliviere.
The Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council and the Central West End Savings and Loan are jointly sponsoring this wine & cheese, chocolate chip cookie & coffee fundraiser.
The goal is to raise money for the vests AND to let the police know that our neighborhood appreciates their fine work.
The event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and will feature visits by many of the officers from the Seventh District, Police Colonel Brown, Mayor Vince Schoemehl, and others. Tickets for the event are $10 each and can be purchased at the Central West End Savings & Loan or by calling Skip Coburn (862-5122). Make a donation or buy a ticket even if you can’t make the get-together. Its important to let our officers know that we do appreciate their efforts.
