The Socialist Labor Party is commemorating the Paris Commune of 1871 on Friday. March 21, beginning 8:00 p.m. The party is at 5788 Waterman, Louise Donnell & Don Fitz’ home. Donations of 75¢ per drink are requested for the beer, wine, cokes. and apple juice that will be provided. Snacks will be served free. The event will raise funds for the Socialist Labor Party.

Have you ever heard of the Paris Commune? According to Don Fitz: During the Franco-Prussian War in the 1870’s. Paris workers seized factories in the city and ran it themselves for two months. Calling a truce, the French and German capitalists joined forces and destroyed the Commune. Though thousands of revolutionary French workers were slaughtered, the memory of the Commune will live forever as the first time workers ran their own government. All residents of SkinkerDeBaliviere are invited to come and meet socialist-thinking neighbors.
