Scouting — Senior Girl Scout Troop 2886

February 1980

Historical February 1980 report or notice. Original dates, prices and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Since the good-time Senior

Planning Board roller skating party was held before Christmas, Senior Scouts have had a quiet Scout month to get themselves through finals. No dinners were scheduled in January, since for the past two years they had to be cancelled due to bad weather. Oh. well!

We are scheduled to serve the dinner on February 5 that United Church Men give for the Boy Scouts who have earned the “God and Country” Award in the past year. Sanford McDonnell will be the guest speaker. On February 12, we will return to our regular second Tuesday dinner schedule.

We now have the materials available for two new programs for seniors: “Let’s Make It Happen!” is a program of 22 interest projects lo do alone or in a group: “From Dreams to Reality” is a career education program for girls 12 17. Since many girls will be contemplating how to obtain jobs as summer approaches. the career education program encourages them to put some thought into prospective jobs before applying for them.

Girl Scout Week is March 8-15:

Planning Board happenings for the future are: February 9 “The Runaway” March 8 “How to Say No to a Rapist and Survive” April 27 “Being Disabled.” an all-day session to discover how it must feel to . be disabled if only for a day Sept. 5 7 – Weekend camping trip to Camp Cedar Lodge

Volunteer summer camp opportunities are many and varied. Each girl can choose in which area she wants to work. And, of course, we are also in the cookie business!
