Letter to the Editor — House Identification Program

By Lieut. James Shea

Historical November 1977 community notice. Original dates, prices, services and contact information are preserved; current availability has not been established.

A new program of ‘house identification’ has been started by members of Team One. We have begun with the 5300 block of Waterman. Painting the address of each resident on the front and back. Bright yellow paint is being used, so that when officers respond to calls in the area, the car that arrives at the rear of the building will be able to readily identify the home where the problem is occurring.

Many of the homes have addresses on the front, but some are badly worn, and few of them are in the same place. We are attempting to paint the top front step of each home, so that the officers responding to a call will know exactly where to look for the address.

If you as a citizen are approached by officers wishing to paint your address, please cooperate.

Thanking you in advance…
