Jean Eberle, a former editor of The Paper, has a book coming out in November. The Incredible Owen Girls is a biography of three determined Missouri sisters, born before the Civil War, who became experts in fields previously reserved for men. Newspaper columns, folk-lore, speleology, geology, ornithology — one or another Owen sister made a name for her- self in those fields. The sisters even became members of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences.
Jean was on the original staff of The Paper, has written “St. Roch’s: The Story of a Parish.” and a number of other historical booklets, as well as a variety of free-lance articles.
