Avis Carlson, neighborhood authoress, will be honored at the Des Peres Library on February 8, with an autographing party for her new book, SMALL WORLD, LONG GONE. The party is scheduled for Sunday, 12 until 2 p.m., with the hope that this is a time when most people will be free and that they’ll come over to the library after church to visit with Mrs. Carlson and have their copies of the book signed. (You are welcome even if you bring a book with you that you already have!) Mrs. Carlson’s book tells delightfully of her early days in the Flint Hills of Kansas —horse and buggy rides to town, remembrances of parents and sisters, and lots more. As one review says, “This lady writes like a dream.” The book is beautifully printed, bound, and illustrated also.
