November 1975

Original photograph of Vincent C. Schoemehl, Jr. writing at a desk.

On November 21, 1975, Vincent C. Schoemehl, Jr. was elected 28th Ward Alderman in a special election. Mr. Schoemehl, a Democrat, received over 50% of the votes cast in a three-man race which included John D. Flynn, Jr., an Independent, and Thomas D. Vaughn, a Republican. Approximately 2300 voters turned out to participate. (We “held the presses” in order to include the results of the election, but did not have time to write a detailed story.)
