Hamilton Branch III Off to Good Start

On September 2, 1975, after a long summer break the faculty and staff of

Hamilton Branch #3 were pleased to welcome our children back to school.

There are several new people and programs this year to provide additional services for our children. We now have the services of a speech teacher Ms. Patricia Buchheit. We have three new classroom teachers. Mrs. Elizabeth Kincade, formerly of the Banneker District, and Miss Nancy Knapp will be teaching second grade. Miss Diame Aubertin will be our new third grade teacher. Hamilton Branch #3 was one of four schools in the Northwest Soldan District to be chosen to participate in the Development Learning Program in conjunction with Miriam School and Webster College. Mrs. Carole Johnson is our Educational Resource Teacher with the program. Our teachers will be serviced by Dr. Eleanor Kenny from the Miriam School and Mrs. Louise McElroy, our teacher advisor.

Our students who usually participate in many city wide worthwhile activities have started the year with a survey. Mrs. Billups third grade conducted a survey polling their school mates on the desired day to start the school year. It was published in the Globe Democrat that the students of Hamilton Branch #3 voted 113 to 55 to continue with traditional after-Labor-Day start to school.

We hope in this new school year we can continue to serve well our children. Any parents or interested persons who are able and willing to volunteer to help our children are welcomed and encourage to contact our principal Mrs. Shirley Deavens because we want and need your help.
