Rosedale Neighborhood Association News

By Marjorie Weir

Rosedale Neighborhood Association’s Casino Night on February 22, 1975, may have whetted a few local appetites for the tables of Las Vegas, but over all there seems to have been no corrupting effect. Every gambler received $500 in play money to squander or build into an empire at the roulette, poker, black jack, or crap tables. By midnight some fortunes had been won and lost, but the big winners were in a position to bid on the array of prizes available at auction. An umbrella went for $2200, two bottles of Cutty Sark donated by John and Susie Roach, brought $5300 and $7400 respectively, a watch donated by William Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatrick Pharmacy sold for $5000, 10 gallons of gasoline donated by J-R Motorite brought $3800, and dinner at the Vossmeyers went for $8300. Lou Green donated the $2200 umbrella, an ice bucket ($900), a flashlight ($7400) and an engraving tool ($4200). Everyone had a great time thanks to all those donors, croupiers, dealers, and bartenders, and thanks especially to Joe Lange, President of RNA, who worked so hard to put it together.

Results of the RNA Election to be held on March 25, too late to make this Paper’s deadline, will appear in the May issue.
