Rosedale Neighborhood Association

On November 18th, a general meeting of the Rosedale Neighborhood Association was convened at Grace Methodist Church. Among the items discussed were the dinner-theatre fund raiser and the profits therefrom. Dave Schmidt, Treasurer, distributed copies of an itemized accounting of receipts and expenses which showed that the net profit of the evening was $275.92.

The main business of the meeting was devoted to an explanation of neighborhood designation as an “Historic District” and discussion of whether or not to seek this designation for the area including Parkview, Rosedale, and most of Washington Heights. Each neighborhood organization will be dealing with this issue, so there was discussion of combining our efforts. Mr. Terry Turner, a representative of the City Plan Commission, explained the characteristics of other Historic Districts in St. Louis, and answered many questions.

It was decided that a committee would be formed to examine the issue and to make recommendations at the next general meeting. Those who volunteered to serve on this committee are Mike Pyatok, Sue Tepas, Gee Stuart, Dan Schesch, Bob Newsham, and Ed Stout. There will be further information on this subject in later issues of The Paper.
