There is no tougher job to be had than that of judging the costumes at the annual Halloween party at St. Roch’s gym. Kids in this neighborhood are a truly imaginitive bunch and the costumes were each one better than the other.
Winners were Gino Cross as death, Ann Newsham, a large-faced midget, Megan Couch as a butterfly, Andy Renard as an oil sheik, Anita Watson as a fancy lady, Ginger Lottes as a Christmas tree, Rory Krueger as a robot, Elizabeth Winters as a milk shake and Chris Mudd as St. Louis. The two little Bynums shared as Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. But equally good were dozens of others: Julie Creighton as Charlie Chaplan, Joshua Kohn as a Frog, Vincent McCarthy as a freckled faced doll, Katie Shay as a clown, Mary Ann Shea as a gypsy. Then there were teams: two bums were Paul Wilmering and Tom Bowe, that horse was Mary O’Brien and Kathy Storey, salt and pepper was Christie Schmoehl and K.K. Tomas. Other great ones: Crickie Lottes as an old fasioned girls, Bridgid Couch as a reindeer, Laura Kahline and Ketti Hoefel as witches, Sara Stuart was a pumpkin, Kity Newsham was some Frankenstein. Then there was Rebecca Roach in a safari outfit, Rachel Bender a gypsy, Sara DeLorenzo as an old lady. Ladies were popular: Roger and Zella Dyson, Katherine Tepas, Nanette Thomas and many others. Elizabeth Roach had such good face makeup that she was unrecognizable. Others also had excellent make-up. The Marx team of David Mestres and Shannon McPherron was very good – and the list could go on and on. To all of you who made the party more fun for ourselves, thank you and think ahead for next year.
