“The Cultural Heritage of St. Louis Neighborhoods” is the topic of a series of four free Saturday seminars discussing preservation of St. Louis, neighborhood by neighborhood, which will be held at Washington University beginning November 10.
Sponsored by The Missouri State Committee for the Humanities, this series will be presented by Washington University in cooperation with many area groups currently working on preservation, including our own Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council.
Each seminar will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Nov. 10 and 17; Dec. 1 and 8) and the first three will deal with specific topics such as: What is worth preserving? How do you organize to preserve? and, Is becoming a “historical district” the answer?
The fourth session, on December 8, will feature reactions from the neighborhood people themselves.
Hard questions, submitted by the neighborhood groups ahead of time, will be dealt with at all the sessions, with audience participation requested (and probably provoked by the initial presentations of the topics).
These seminars are free and right on the Washington University campus – can we afford to miss them?
Mark your calendars now!
Neighborhood flyers have all necessary information.
