The Senior Girl Scout Troop 2884 sponsored by Grace Church has 11 girls graduating from high school this month. The Troop is anxious to have new 9th and 10th grade girls visit the Troop and possibly join. Senior scouting is not like younger scouting. Much of the program is up to the girl and involves vocational exploration through aide courses. Of course, there is still camping but many other events– such as a week’s program at S.I.U. in Carbondale this month. This Troop also earns money serving dinners which is hard work, and requires one evening, sometimes two, each month. Parents are also involved in the larger dinners. Then the fun of spending the money: For the most part we travel and participate in the earnings on the basis of hours worked. This summer the Troop plans to go to New Orleans by way of Memphis, Vicksburg (Civil War Education) and on to Biloxi. Call Mrs. Klinefelter, 863-8201 or Mrs. Ballard, 863-5273 for information about the Troop and fall plans.
