Dear Paper: I would like to share with you this letter that I received from President Johnson a few months ago. The reason I wrote President Johnson was to cheer him up. I saw a picture of him in the paper and he looked very sad and lonely. I told him that I appreciated all that he tried to do for America, and that I was praying for him. A few weeks later he passed on. Thank you. Rev. Robert C. Williams 5929 Waterman St. Louis, Mo.
President Johnson’s reply
Austin, Texas Dear Reverend Williams: I’m grateful to you and your family for being good enough to think of me and write a very thoughtful letter. Thank you very much for your prayers… and for the generous way you remember me and my Presidency. Sincerely, (signed) L. B. J.
