Crusade Urges Community-Cop Cooperation

April 1973

Don’t be a closet crime-fighter! If you have an idea of how you think the police could do a more effective job for the community, put it in writing. Then send it along to the Women’s Crusade Against Crime, 1221 Locust Street, 63103.

As a feature of its Four Month Forum, “The People vs. Crime,” the Crusade is soliciting contributions to its Community-Cop Suggestion Box. It urges the participation of both concerned citizens and members of the police force itself.

All constructive ideas will be compiled by Crusade members and passed along to area law enforcement officials. Letters may be signed, or not, as the sender wishes, and the most constructive and innovative suggestions will be published. The emphasis, however, is to be on the positive, and no suggestions of a personal nature will be relayed.

According to Mrs. James S. McClellan, Crusade co-chairman, “we have heard many good ideas from both police officers and citizens over the past three years. These, however, had no opportunity to reach a policy making level. We feel such ideas should be considered and we urge everyone with a bright idea for more effective action to write us. We know the Police need the support of the community as much as the community needs that of the Police.”
