Joe Schmidt, longtime employee at the Parkview Food Basket, and more recently crossing guard at Kingsbury and Waterman, is in Veteran’s Hospital following the amputation of his legs. He is reported in good condition but will be hospitalized for some time. Neighborhood families who have benefited from Joe’s cheerful service are urged to send him a note, Room 577, Veteran’s Hospital, 915 North Grand Avenue.
