The Committee of Troop 98 is pleased to announce that the new Scoutmaster for Troop 98 is Eagle Scout Mike Baker, a senior chemistry student at Saint Louis University. Mr. Baker is a native of Southeast Missouri and his interests include sports, art, and music. Scoutmaster Baker will be assisted by Junior Assistant Scoutmasters Joe Newsham and Andy Bender. The Scouts recently elected Bert Bender Senior Patrol Leader. Additionally, the Leadership Corps includes Charlie Hatch, Quartermaster; Tim Flynn, Scribe; and Joe McBride. The Patrols elected Tim Storey and Hugh Bender as their Patrol Leaders, and they appointed Jim Storey and Dan Flynn as Assistant Patrol Leaders, Eighteen of the Scouts attended a West District Camporee at Beaumont Reservation, October 6, 7, and 8, with many of the younger Scouts earning their Camping Skill Award and four members of the Troop serving on the Scout Camporee Staff. Troop 98 is going on an overnight hike on the Taum Sauk Trail, November 11 and 12, and the Troop had a Pioneering Merit Badge Booth at the Scoutskill Show, October 21, at Union Station.
