The Hamilton School Committee recently formed by the Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council to work with the Hamilton School P.T.A. toward a better school, met last month with representatives of the school office. Committee members, with Mrs. Chris Wright as chairman, are trying to persuade school officials to relocate at least some of Hamilton School or to take one of their other suggestions to insure that education at Hamilton School will be truly integrated.
School officials have expressed surprise at citizen interest in the school but the committee is hopeful that some progress will be made. Mrs. Wright reports that the committee meetings so far have been concerned primarily with gathering information on conditions at Hamilton School and its branches but she hopes to announce soon a public meeting at which interested citizens and taxpayers can be brought up to date on problems at Hamilton School and some of the proposed solutions. Those interested in the work of the committee may call Mrs. Wright or call the Council office, Vo. 2-5122. “This is a program that can use all the community support we can muster,” Mrs. Wright urged. “The school office talks about neighborhood stability but how are we going to attract stability without an outstanding public school?”
