Women’s Crusade to “Brown Bag It” to Jeff City

Members of the Women’s Crusade against Crime will again invade the Missouri State Capitol to repeat last year’s State Town Meeting. As crimefighting knows no boundaries and many times its controls are in the hands of state legislators, the capitol is the place to go on Wednesday, February 9.

Hundreds of crusaders will journey by bus or station wagon and arrive in time for the opening morning session to be held in the ballroom at 10:00 a.m. in the Governor’s Hotel. Crusaders and legislators as well as other officials will speak about the legislative package, which the Crusade will sponsor, concerned with reforms and improvements in the Criminal Justice System.

So far bills being “tailored to fit the crime” are Rape Testimony, Stolen Property Possession and hopefully, a law concerning Massage Parlors and Prostitution to combat the mushrooming parlors in St. Louis County. In addition, the muchneeded minimum Police Training Standards will be sought.

Again women will tote Brown Bag Lunches for themselves and a legislator, so luncheon can be served in the House of Representatives Lounge as was done last year.
