Historic District Progress

November 1975

The Skinker-DeBaliviere Historic Committee met October 6th, 14th, 22nd, and 29th at the Council office. Individual land-use maps were put together, and Joyce Hancock prepared a beautiful, multi-colored master map for our use from the 14th on. Using materials provided by the Community Development Agency (CDA), our committee began to explore the various historic district ordinances already prepared and enacted. Alternative approaches to our development plan have been discussed, with several people taking writing assignments. Architect Mike Pyatok assumed the responsibility of developing meeting agendas to get us to our goal in an orderly manner. We hope to meet with CDA in early November to see what their plans for our area have in common with our own. We will also be in close contact with the newly appointed/elected Redevelopment Advisory Committee, for plans concerning the redevelopment area will have great impact on developmental plans proposed for the Historic District.

We have several new members (including our new Alderman) and any resident is invited to join us.
