On April 25 and 26, St. Roch’s Parish replaced their annual card party with a Talent Revue. In addition to raising a much needed $2000 for the parish budget, the Revue has several purposes, according to producers John and Sharon Nelsen.
There was a desire to widen participation in a parish activity. More people of all ages were involved in the Revue than usually attend the card party. The Revue also provided an avenue for expressing the tremendous talent in Skinker-DeBaliviere. For many people who complain of America’s passive TV habits, the Revue offered “action in entertainment.”
It was evident to all who attended that the cast and crew had a great time. Their energy and enthusiasm were caught by the audience and everybody enjoyed the evening, proving to guests and visitors from all over the metropolitan area what a dynamic neighborhood spirit we possess.
