Before memories of Art Fair ’74 had begun to fade, a number of interested residents met to review the Mother’s Day Weekend in order to share what was learned (and earned) and to plan any needed improvements. Another important agenda item was discussion and staff changes in the Residential Service.
The meeting was held at Susie Roach’s house on Tuesday, May 21, with approximately 15 neighbors in attendance.
several needs emerged from the discussion:
1. a statement of philosophy and purpose of the activities of the Art Fair Weekend as a whole which would serve as a basis for establishing clearer policies and guidelines for exhibits, fundraising activities, etc.
2. a method for eliminating inappropriate exhibitors before they arrive on Mother’s Day,
3. additional manpower to control traffic at Skinker & Kingsbury before noon on Art Fair Sunday,
4. restroom facilities for the public,
5. a coordinator for neighborhood fund-raising,
6. more buses for the House Tour,
7. more training of house sitters.
At the meeting several people volunteered to serve on various committees for next year’s fair.
