Clinic — Trash Can Holders and Services

Overturned trash cans breed rats and create unhealthy conditions in our alleys. Community-wide use of wooden or concrete holders to keep trash cans upright would eliminate this dangerous, unsightly, and unhealthy problem.

The Loop-West End People’s Clinic staff is investigating how community residents could build and distribute several hundred low cost trash can holders throughout this area.

We would like to work with several individuals and/or one or two block groups to start a small, experimental trash can holder project.

Once the details have been worked out and tested, we hope project participants will work with the other residents of Skinker-DeBaliviere to implement the program throughout the community.

Anyone interested in working on this project should call Judy Maschan at 721-5577.

CLINIC services are: medical examinations and treatment, vaccinations, immunizations, sickle cell screening, testing for v.d., pregnancy, t.b., and lead poisoning, and all common medical services.

Our hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 6:30-9:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

THE CLINIC served 180 people during November.

THE CLINIC thanks the Women of St. Roch’s who have offered to supply us with all our cleaning supplies.

Special thanks to Rita Magyar, a member of that group, who has volunteered to work in THE CLINIC office one day a week.

THE CLINIC seeks community groups and/or individuals to donate things like clocks, an easel, office supplies, door locks, white paint, lumber and funds.

Residents willing to use and learn medical, clerical, and/or counseling skills are welcome to join our all-volunteer staff.

For further information, please call us at 721-5577 and ask for Peter Muckerman or Judy Maschan.
