The SDCC office hosted a meeting on October 6 to discuss short-term rentals in the neighborhood, with a specific focus on the recent purchase of 6179 Kingsbury by Big Dreams LCC. Current plans are to use the property as a short-term rental on Airbnb or as a medium-term rental through insurance companies.
The home’s new owner, Thao Truong, exhibited a pair of documents covering her approach for the property. Her plans include quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., a ban on parties or events, a minimum age of 25 years to book and a maximum of 12 simultaneous guests. Safety features for the property will include exterior cameras and a noise monitor.
She encouraged neighbors with questions or concerns to reach out to her at (314) 583-2902, with a backup manager line available if a response takes more than one hour.
Alderwoman Shameem Clark Hubbard also attended the meeting to address questions.
Neighbors expressed concern during the meeting about the city’s willingness to enforce its existing policies concerning short-term rentals. They pledged to continue advocating with the alderwoman and other city officials to push for enforcement and to maintain the street’s percentage of single-family homes. Yard signs that declare “Neighborhoods are for Neighbors” are available for pick up at the SDCC office or delivery. A $5 donation per sign is suggested.
