Would You Like To Be Interviewed About Your Life In Skinker-DeBaliviere?

By Michael Whisenhunt

Historical September–October 2016 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Life in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood is different from anyplace I’ve ever lived.

My partner and I moved to the neighborhood in 2012. Since moving to Saint Louis, I became interested in who the people were that lived in my house before me.

I did some research at the Saint Louis History Center and found that we were the 9th owners of the house. (The Malecek house. Does anyone know the Maleceks?

I would really like to talk to them!) The project I would like to start is twofold: 1 Collect pictures of the neighborhood (street scenes, kids playing outside, the outsides of houses) 2 Interview long term residents of the neighborhood on their experiences and recollections of living in the Skinker-DeBaliviere neighborhood.

If you have any thoughts on this, please contact me through the CONTACT page on the paper website. Mike
