Every day an average of eight children die by gun violence in the United States.
Please join Faces Not Forgotten and the Arts Group of Union Avenue (AGUA) as we explore this topic through art and film. Faces Not Forgotten is displaying portraits of St. Louis children and youth who have died from a gun, at Union Avenue Christian Church’s Gretchen Brigham Art Gallery, located at 733 N. Union, St. Louis, MO 63108.
The show opens on Sunday, September 18, 2016, and the event is from noon–3:30 pm.
From 1:00-2:50 pm, Faces and AGUA invite you to delve into Katy Couric’s Under the Gun documentary. UNDER THE GUN examines the events and the people who have kept the gun debate fierce and the progress slow, even as gun deaths and mass shootings continue to increase…The documentary looks at why politicians are finding it difficult to act and what is being done at state and local levels. (Info taken from the movie’s website).
There is no charge to view the film.
A discussion from 2:50 – 3:20 will round out the afternoon.
The Faces Not Forgotten art commemoration continues until October 9. Stop by during the week from 9 am-2 pm or on Sunday from 9:30-noon. www.facesnotforgotten.com www.union-avenue.org/arts
