STL VILLAGE showed its new model for “aging in community” while staying active and socially involved at its Grand Launch April 12, 2014 at the Missouri History Museum (Lindell and DeBaliviere in Forest Park). Arthur J. Culbert, PhD, Interim Executive Director of STL Village described the formation and benefits of the Village here in the St. Louis metropolitan area. STL Village is part of a national network of 125 Villages throughout the United States.

This nonprofit grassroots membership organization was created to assist people 50+ who desire to reside in their homes and continue to be active in their community and remain socially connected.

This membership based organization will offer its members 24/7 access to supportive services provided by trained volunteers and vetted service suppliers to assist them with their transportation needs and household and personal care.

In addition, STL Village will organize a wide range of social activities that will promote and encourage lifelong learning and physical activity.

According to Arthur J. Culbert, “STL Village will address the needs of the rapidly increasing senior population in our service area who desire to “age in community.

It is our plan to serve as a model for other neighborhoods that want to start a Village in their community.

We have done the groundwork and are excited to assist with the development of other Villages in the area.” To learn more about STL Village, visit www.stlvillage.org.
