Editor’s Notes — Spring Possibilities

By Linda Cross

Historical April–May 2025 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Spring is my favorite time of year!

I love the possibilities presented by the flowers blooming in my neighborhood and the city and the budding life of the trees and their tiny leave trying to poke out into existence.

This is the time of year that I celebrated, I made it through that long cold miserable winter! Although I have been enjoying some amazing indoor activities, frequenting my favorite haunts on Delmar and going to openings and the history museum and art museum, I am so looking forward to great outdoor activities again!

I can’t wait to have dinner at the boathouse, walk by the beautiful landscaping at the art museum, and eat OUTSIDE at one of the great restaurants on Delmar.

I often get teased about my ‘six-mile comfort zone’ that I most often thrive in, but when you have all that you need this close to you, why not?

There are some amazing things coming up very soon in our ‘hood’, the Art Museum is about to open a great exhibit called ROAR about 1920’s France and since Andy has done some work for the exhibit, we got the see a preview and it will be amazing. Also, before we know it, Shakespeare will be doing their annual performance in the park.

This year will be Hamlet, and although comedies are my fav, every performance of Shakespeare is wonderful and the setting and picnicking make it the bomb. And by the time of our next issue, the Muny will be opening their 107th season. Movies on art hill, Delmar street festivals, and for my daughter Emily and I, the beginning of art fair season.

This time of year helps my soul. Grab a neighbor and see what is out there! (And on a personal note, I made it through an entire editor’s notes without talking about politics and my anxiety at the state of our country, almost – whew)
