The SDCC board of directors has selected Mike Reid as its executive director.
He will be working part time during the pandemic. Mike is a native St. Louisan who grew up in Laclede town and the West End.
In earlier days, he lived here on DeGiverville.
His home now is a short walk away on Cabanne in a residence designed by the architect of Union Station. Mike is a strong fan of the arts in St.Louis.
His mother sang at the MUNY.
He mentioned the artists in our neighborhood and in the Delmar Loop which make us an attractive area. Mike has worked for a number of community organizations , including Volunteers for Peace, the Mark Twain Community Alliance, and the Union Community anchored by three churches.
A principal goal of Mike’s is to reunite our community in the post-Covid environment. Because of the pandemic, many neighborhood events have been canceled. Gatherings have served to bring neighbors together. Mike notes that we have to work really hard to maintain our stability. Hopefully, as the virus decreases, we can gather again and meet Mike.
