McCormack Baron, a development company with projects nationally, has applied for federal funds to create a new, mixed use, transit-oriented development at the site of the DeBaliviere strip mall. Their plans call for a 5 story building with the top four used for residential and the bottom for commercial.

There would be approximately 144 one and two bedroom units and the development would be mixed income; half of the units would be for lower income tenants.

This development is in a very preliminary stage, and there will be meetings held in the neighborhood before decisions are made.

The Times will keep you posted.

In the meantime, you may wish to view the Six North Building at Sarah and Laclede for an idea of the type building that is thought to be a model for DeBaliviere.
