The West End Arts Council once again will sponsor the Wintermarkt, an outdoor crafts and holiday festival held at Greg Freeman Park at Four Corners. Wintermarkt features works by area artists, including jewelers, potters, glassblowers, woodcarvers and more.
The show begins – outdoors – at noon, and ends at 4:00 p.m.
While shoppers stroll through the area, musical entertainment is presented from the Four Corners Stage. Last year, The Pikers, an a capella group of Washington University students, and an ensemble of singers from the St. Roch choir, were among the performers who wowed those in attendance.
This year, the musical performances will be expanded to include a handbell performance by the St. Roch handbell ensemble, and several musical groups from the University. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and consumption during the fair, including hot roasted chestnuts and hot dogs, hot spiced cider, gluhwein, gingerbread and other home crafted treats, as well as baked goods for holiday gifting and enjoyment. Neighbors are invited to contribute a holiday baking specialty, which will be sold to benefit the Arts Council. Artists and craftspeople are still being sought to participate: a contract and other information can be obtained by contacting the Arts Council at 862-5122. Underwriting for this event has been provided by the Regional Arts Commission and Washington University.
The West End Arts Council invites you to participate in the third annual West End Arts Council Wintermarkt on Saturday, December 6, 2003, from 11 am until 4 p.m, at Greg Freeman Park at Four Corners at Kingsbury and Des Peres.
We seek artists (including crafters) to sell their works at this outdoor arts and crafts fair. Last year we had ceramacists, jewelry makers, glass artists, a doll maker, gardeninspired accessories, handmade purses, musicians, and more.
In keeping with European tradition, the event is held outdoors and features a bonfire.
Please register by November 27th. For more information about the artist sale, to register contact Laure Porterfield at 862-5122 or at skinkerd@stlouis.missouri.org.
