Police Appreciation Luncheon

February 2005

Historical February–March 2005 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

On Thursday, December 16, the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council once again hosted a Police and Firefighters Appreciation Luncheon at 6008 Kingsbury. Under the leadership of recruitment chair Ruth Johnson, contributions of food, supplies and funds were provided from over 65 households. Neighborhood businesses and Washington University also assisted in continuing this ten-year tradition. Neighbors helped to set up the buffet and to serve the officers.

The open house began at 11:00 and wrapped up around 4:30.

Each officer also received a hand-made card from neighborhood artist Greg Bynum. Many officers stopped back in the office the week before Christmas for extra copies of the line art for their children.

As always, the spirit of camaraderie engendered by this event will carry into the new year. For many, this opportunity to interact with the men and women who work so hard to keep our community safe is the only occasion when they meet face to face. Congratulations and thank you to all who helped make the event a success.
