The month of August and National Night Out kicked off the third year of the “Friends of Skinker DeBaliviere” campaign. More than $10,000 has been raised in the last two years to help support the daily activities of the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council (SDCC) office, which is located at 6008 Kingsbury.
As funding from various organizations and government agencies dwindles, this “Friends” campaign is crucial to continued neighborhood success. Levels of support range from $20 for seniors and students to a $100 level for “Supporting Friends.” A new and exciting part of the fundraising campaign this year is the introduction of a Skinker DeBaliviere T-shirt.
The shirt is offered as an incentive for the “Supporting Friends” level, but can also be purchased separately for $12.
The shirts are dark green with a cream-colored silhouette of Skinker DeBaliviere institutions and it reads “City Living at its Best! Skinker DeBaliviere.” All profits from the sale of the shirts go toward the “Friends” campaign and Skinker DeBaliviere.
The time table for the “Friends” campaign included letters being handdelivered to all Skinker DeBaliviere neighbors by September 1st, reminders throughout September, and benefits/incentives delivered in October.
All participants will receive discounts from local merchants valid for this third “Friends” year. St. Louis is filled with neighborhoods, but Skinker DeBaliviere is City Living at its Best. Help us continue that fine tradition by becoming a “Friends Of Skinker DeBaliviere.” A participation form and T-shirt order form can be found below. Questions regarding the “Friends” campaign can be answered by calling the SDCC office at 862-5122 or Beth Bender, Chair of the “Friends” at 863-3854.
