Following is a report of recent activity carried out by the Police Beat Officer assigned to the Hamilton Elementary Community Education Center.

There have been increased foot patrols in the area around Hamilton.

These have been carried out by Area III foot beat officers under the direct supervision of Sgt. Leondus Bates and were authorized by Lt. Audrey Lee who is the commander of Area III School Beat and Foot Beat Officers.

As the Hamilton Police Beat Officer, I have been establishing a link with parents and students and the immediate community concerning assaults, disturbances, and conflicts and lost children. Editor’s Note: Officer Cothrine has been assigned to Hamilton since its designation as a community education center in the fall of 1994.

He is based at the school, attends its council meetings, and is an active participant in community decisionmaking.

He has been successful in having Hamilton designated as a police mini-station.
