For over 25 years, the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council has served our neighborhood. Monitoring new and existing commercial and residential housing issues, raising funds to improve neighborhood conditions, working with individuals and groups to improve security, and administering programs to keep our youth occupied and off the streets are a few of the services many have come to take for granted. Cutbacks in block grants and a growing number of requests for assistance make it increasingly difficult for the Council to continue to provide the same level of service to our neighborhood.
In 1994 the ‘Friends of Skinker DeBaliviere” campaign raised over $5000 to keep the Council running.
This year’s campaign co-chair, Beth Bender, notes, ‘1996 funding levels are questionable. Direct support from the neighborhood is important if the Council is to continue as a viable resource.” Programming for 1995-96 is ambitious. Expectations from the neighborhood are high. Funds are tight. Your participation in the ‘Friends of Skinker DeBaliviere” campaign will provide you with: Communications concerning goings-on and daily living in Skinker DeBaliviere; Discounts at area merchants; and * Invitations to special “Friends” events.
Most importantly, you’ll be supporting the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council, an organization devoted to maintaining and improving the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood for years to come.
