The YWCA’s Women’s Resource center and Aid For Victims of Crime are seeking volunteers to assist with their Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R:T.) program.
A cooperative project between the two agencies, S.A.R.T. provides immediate crisis intervention to survivors of sexual assault in St. Louis City and County. Beginning October 15, prospective volunteers will receive 40 hours of training each Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A 24-hour, in-person crisis intervention and emotional support system to sexual assault survivors has been established at St. Louis Regional Medical Center Emergency room. Follow-up information and referrals for services are also available.
The S.A.R.T. project is funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
For more information on the project or on becoming a volunteer, call Susan Chibnall, Aid For Victims of Crime, at 652-3623.
