Tapsichore, the innovative St. Louisbased tap company will present a concert on Saturday, May 18th at 8:00 p.m.
The performance will be held at the Center of Contemporary Arts (COCA) in University City. Tickets, available at the door, are $8.00 for general admission and $6.50 for students and senior citizens. Tapsichore dancers Jan Feager and Karen Kelsey will present several new works.
A highlight of the evening will be the premiere of Echoes by composer Robert Chamberlin. Featuring Paul DeMarinis, the composition was written for saxophone and two tap dancers. “Many tap dancers feel tap is as much music as it is dance,” states Jan Feager, artistic director of Tapsichore. “That is why we commissioned a composer to write music for our feet.” For more information about the Tapsichore Spring Concert, call 968-4585. Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency and with support from the Regional Arts Commission.
